Matthias is an old friend of the Mikaelsons.
Matthias was born on November 2nd, 1361. He was only two and a half months old when his home city of Rungholt, Nordfriesland, Germany was destroyed by the "Grote Mandrenke" on January 16, 1362. Nearly twenty-five thousand souls were lost to that terrible storm but somehow, little Matthias survived for two days in the confinements of a small basket wrapped in ragged blankets. All would have been lost for the little one if a single ship had not been passing by searching for any survivors. Aboard this ship was the Lord Elijah Mikaelson. Upon fishing the small basket from the sea, Elijah found the small baby boy. The baby was barely breathing but Elijah immediately took him to his cabin and fed him his blood. From that moment on, Elijah raised the boy from baby to young man, teaching him the ways of the sword, how to read and how to write, the difference between right and wrong and above all else, loyalty and love.
At the age of twenty-four Elijah presented Matthias with a choice that he could make for himself, to either continue with Elijah and become a vampire, or to remain in Germany to continue with his studies and to eventually become a fair leader. But instead of following his personal ambition, Matthias chose to follow his mentor and savior. And thus he took the blood of Elijah and became one of the undead.
Throughout The Originals FanfictionEdit
Matthias arrives in New Orleans in All You've Got.
Matthias will play a much bigger role in this season.
Matthias is around 5'9" and very built for his height and keeps his face neatly trimmed. Matt wears a black jacket during summer and winter months, mostly because he can and vampires are not affected by hot or cold. Most of the time he is also seen wearing sunglasses and a long black scarf that wraps around his neck and drapes over both shoulders. When not outside, he wears simple black shirts and pants, nothing to flashy.
