Kill A Demon Today, Face the Devil Tomorrow is the first episode in Tyler Gracyne’s fanfiction series House of M and the first overall, beginning after the events taken place in the final act which is almost exactly like From A Cradle To A Grave with the exception that the Harvest Girls survived (all of them), Sean O’Connell is alive and (thanks to Davina) free of the hex but unfortunately comatose, and Esther is still dead, Camille’s recurring psychic dreams as well as Rebekah being absent.
This episode is told primarily in Rebekah Mikaelson (a crossover character from Something Witchy Comes This Way, House of M’s parent show)’s POV and the series as a whole acts as a flashforwards from the events of SWCTW’s current airing story/timeline.
REBEKAH ARRIVES IN THE FRENCH QUARTER — After receiving a letter from “EM”, Rebekah is persuaded by Matt to meet him in New Orleans after over a year in radio silence with her siblings, but Rebekah has a daunting decision to make about her status as the fourth most powerful being in existence that she dreads including Elijah and Klaus in. Upon arriving much earlier than she was instructed to, Rebekah decides to look around town only to meet with her brothers much earlier than expected. Surprise, surprise, Niklaus has a child: Hope Andréa Zoë Mikaelson, Princess of the French Quarter and a tribrid witch-vampire-werewolf (a Werewitchpyre).
Dear Diary, Rebekah wrote in her diary, it had been a while, two months and a half now, since she’d wrote in her journal. After the Incursion, well, it was hard to open up to anyone but Matt. She was still heartbroken over it, just thinking about it made her eyes water because she felt like somehow, it had been her fault, her friend had DIED in it because she was in the way, because she was trying to protect Rebekah. I am in a limousine heading to New Orleans. Why there? Well, almost three months ago, my life was literally hanging by the thread of a Crystal, but my friend saved me, and she paid a high price for it. The guilt of it all kept me from eating, from drinking, if Matt had not been with me, I know I would have probably gone insane. I nearly died, ME, an Original Vampire, brushed shoulders with the Grim Reaper – I WOULD’VE died if it weren’t for her, she who gave her life for mine and more. The fear of death is a feeling I hardly ever have, the fear of death is non-existent when you’re truly immortal. But the thing is, I liked the fear. Is that scary? Matt doesn’t think so, he thinks it’s more proof of my humanity, my right to BE human. For centuries, I have loathed the being I am, a demon, built to take life, cursed by her mother to forever live as an abomination. I have hated humanity and killed and oppressed many because of my jealousy of their ability to be pure, free of evil, of eternity. In that time I have lived, hated, murdered, stolen, given, been robbed, been liberated, daggered, daggered and daggered again, and most of all, I have loved. But in my time in Mystic Falls, the friends I’ve made, the friend I lost, the fight against Silas have all given me a choice I never had for myself: a metered life or eternity. I can have one or the other.
After everything I’ve encountered, experienced, and suffered, I know something I never have:
After so much time robbed of love, I was finally free from my brothers Elijah and Niklaus, even my father, the most powerful vampire elder in existence, is gone, and my mother Esther returned, asked me to forgive her, told me she loved me, possessed me and then died all over again. My brothers, Finn and Kol, both taken from me by the people I’ve grown to love and understand.
The choice should’ve been simple, Matt is my soulmate, I know that now. And I would have taken the Cure . . . if only Elijah and Niklaus were dead, too. But they aren’t, and as much as I want to ignore it, I can’t. Niklaus, I don’t give a damn what he thinks of my choices. But . . . Elijah, he’s loved and taken care of me for centuries and has only asked me to love Niklaus. Leaving him for a limited, mortal life . . . I can’t do that, not without telling him at least, face-to-face.
Thing is, I know they won’t accept it, the last time I considered taking the Cure, he was very hesitant to live with my decision. I was robbed by Silas of that chance and Elijah’s victory didn’t last long, he followed Niklaus out of Mystic Falls and left me for him once again.
As though Fate would stand against my whim to wait it out, Elijah sent to me yesterday to tell me to meet him and Niklaus at the place we called home for centuries – New Orleans. I would have refused, but he wouldn’t have asked me without a hook: Niklaus has a child.
The note read:
My dearest Rebekah, I send this letter to you with high hopes that my news will touch your heart as much as it has mine. These last couple of months have been hard without the rest of the family, which has almost always been at my grasp, my eye-shot and my guardianship in life and in death, but over the course of my time watching over Niklaus, I have found that change is but Nature’s will and Nature’s will will always prevail. You live and so do your two brothers and with our lives, a new one was created in your time away. Niklaus has a child, a daughter in fact, and we would love for you to come to the place you have called home for centuries, the second place that was ever truly your home – the Plantation that stands to this day. If you come, and I plead you do, come to the place that was a sanctuary for our family in the 18th century. I send this letter with love.
Rebekah looked up from her book to study the road ahead, she was nearing the town now. She could feel the energy as she neared, the Leigh Lines that drew all supernaturals to places were especially strong in places like New Orleans and Virginia, where they flared the brightest, conjured by the Crystals of Bezel.
A CHILD! NIKLAUS?!
At first, I refused to believe it, simply folded it and placed the note in my bag, angry at the lengths Elijah would go to get me and Nik in the same room. Then I THOUGHT about it. Nik’s the HYBRID, half werewolf, therefore half alive, so was it so hard to believe that his extremely healthy, strong body could be potent enough to give him a child?
Of course, the Devil was in the mix, instead of me, my most hated, evil brother has a child, and I remain a barren vampire. If it weren’t for Matt, I would’ve stayed in Mystic Falls and drank the Cure then and there just to spite my bloody brother. But here I am, going to New Orleans to hear what they have to say . . . and see the miracle baby myself. Am I ready? No, but there is better time than the present.
As the car drove into the city boarder, Rebekah reached into her pocket and pulled out a tiny box in which the key to her happiness, or her doom resided.
She remembered Matt’s words, “When you’re ready, not a second before.”
Rebekah clutched the Cure capsule to her heart, knowing she wasn’t in for an easy ride.
1.0.0. EXT. NEW ORLEANS, LA — BAYOU DOCKS. NIGHT.Edit
— THREE MONTHS AGO –
Diego rushes in the woods being chased by an unknown person. He is crying as he rushes through, obviously frightened for his life. He trips over a root and struggles up only for a hand to pull up his hair.
(HER EYES TURN LYCANTHROPIC): I had a husband, he loved me. I loved him. He begged the vampires for his life, told them I needed him, that he lived for me. (EXPRESSIONLESS/EMOTIONLESS) He told them to spare his life, an untapped werewolf, dedicated to living a life of pure humanity . . . but was he spared? No, Marcel Gérard murdered him in cold blood.
There’s no place for vampires in our werewolf ranks.
That isn’t the bigger picture, my dear, sweet Francesca. (WALKS OVER TO THE DEAD BODY AND TRACES HER FINGERS ON HIS CHEST) So handsome, such a waste of a perfectly good resource. (LOOKS UP AT FRANCESCA) You in one time or another, being a vampire isn’t enough, neither is just being a werewolf. Witches on the other hand . . . (SMILES) they have the power to do anything. You yourself have needed, and used, a witch. After all, was it not a witch who created that little Moonlight Ring Spell?
My point, dear Francesca, is that you’ve wagged war with a family made up of the most powerful vampires this world has ever seen, who too, may I add, were once great witches as well. The vampire you just killed is both Marcel’s friend and Joshua Rosza’s boyfriend, who is also Davina Claire – a powerful witch’s – friend. You’re smart woman, Franc, I'm sure you can figure it out.
Well, you know what they said, Red. No use crying over spilt tea.
You don’t believe anything I’ve told you about my power all night? (SHE DUNKED HER HANDS IN THE DOCK WATER AND SPRAYED IT ON DIEGO’S DEAD BODY). You see . . .
Diego’s eyes burst open and are glowing full red.
The mind survives several minutes after the onset of death. Unfortunately, no one else can revive the body for the mind’s benefit, or at least, not yet. There’ve been researchers who wish to use stasis for that, but no breakthroughs. Luckily for you, though, my dear Franc, the Red Queen’s powers have no limits.
Diego’s chest heals as the organ reforms and his chest is restored.
When you killed him, I caught the spirit of the actual Diego and held onto it. Using my powers to save his soul makes him officially my subject, he’s indebted to me and will be for as long as I want. (LIFTS HIS HEAD TO LOOK DIRECTLY AT HER) I hope you can appreciated the trouble I through to bring you back here, Diego.
(EYES STILL RED IN A TRANCE): I love to serve the Red Queen.
(TO DIEGO): You live to serve Francesca Guerrera, whatever she says you will follow. (STANDS/TO FRANCESCA) Originals won’t be able to compel him against your command, he’ll die to protect your identity and/or your commands before he can let them in his head. No, Franc, it doesn’t come at a price. This is just a demonstration of how powerful we would be as allies. Whether you know it or not, my dear, you will need me soon, but without me, you will fail. (SHE PULLED OUT A BLACK ENVELOPE AND THREW IT ONTO THE FLOOR) That is my contact detail, see you soon, Alpha. (IN A FLASH OF RED, SHE DISAPPEARS).
1.0.1. INT. THE COMPOUND — HOPE MIKAELSON’S BEDROOM. AFTERNOON.Edit
— PRESENT DAY —
Niklaus watches his daughter sleep. He smiled at her, feeling the love of being a father more powerfully than ever. How his own father could hate him so badly, Klaus had no idea. He knew that he would do anything, kill anyone, to protect Hope from the wrath of Esther, who hated him with all her being. She showed her true colors when she came after his daughter, she —
A flash of green and gold, Klaus turned around instantly, prepared for the kill. He zoomed to the intruder, wrapping her hand around his neck and pinning her to the wall.
And not insure my niece would be safe from your evil? Not a chance, Nik. (LOOKING AT HOPE AGAIN, REBEKAH COULD NOT HELP BUT MARVEL AT HOW BEAUTIFUL THE CHILD WAS. IT WAS HARD TO BE BITTER, TO BE UNACCEPTING OF SUCH A MARVEL AS THIS). The second I learned of her existence I had to come. What’s her name?
Because I wanted to meet the Princess of the French Quarter. (SHE WALKED OVER TO THE CHILD’S UNCONSCIOUS LITTLE BODY AND NOTED NIKLAUS’S CAUTIOUS MOVEMENT TO JOIN HER, AS IF SHE MIGHT BE A DANGER TO THE CHILD. SHE WAS SO TINY, SO . . . ALIVE. SO DIFFERENT FROM HER FATHER . . . SHE COULD TELL INSTANTLY THAT THE NAME SUITED HER UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY, SHE WAS HOPE, ALIVE AND THE REDEMPTION OF NIKLAUS IF HE SO CHOSE, TO BE A GOOD FATHER TO HER). Nice to know you can do somethings right. (SHE SMILED AT HIM, GENUINELY AWARE OF THE TRUTH IN HER WORDS, AT LEAST, AS SHE SAW IT AND TO HER SURPRISE, HE SMILED BACK).
(SHE TURNED TO LOOK AT HIM, ELIJAH STOOD BY THE ENTRANCE OF THE NURSERY AND REBEKAH IMMEDIATELY REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH SHE’D MISSED HER FAMILY AND RUSHED INTO HIS ARMS): Elijah! (SHE FELT THE STING OF HAPPY TEARS AS HE PULLED HER INTO A WARM HUG).
Donnez-nous la vue de voir dans la ville, nous montrer votre volonté
They had done this ten times over the past two months, Davina was getting tired of calling on the Ancestors without answers, but when Monique was their leader, well, she couldn’t do much about it, besides, things between her and Davina had been going well, she wasn’t about to let the Ancestors be the cause of their rift, besides, when they weren’t trying to contact their angry ancestors, Davina was learning a new spell and teaching it to the other girls, without Geneviève’s guidance, Esther’s Grimoire’s guidance would have to do. Not to mention she was babysitting the Original Vampire Mikael, the father of the Original Vampires she was out to destroy, or at least, the father of one Mikaelson she wanted to destroy while she also volunteered at the O’Connell House on the weekends to look after a comatose Sean O’Connell since she felt guilty because she was responsible for breaking the hex, which may have just broken his mind further, plus she was also going to school again with Monique and the others. And, insanely, she was thriving at all of it. She was acing at school, she was growing stronger as a Harvest Witch of Fire and the House of M was suffering from the hands of the Werewolf Factions all without her toil. She was actually living a functional life . . . now if only these Ancestors would get lost then she’d be set.
They stood in a circle around an altar on which stood four elements: a plain round stone, a wine glass full of pure, fresh water, a polished white stone with the symbol for air and finally a black scented candle, all their symbols of power for them to channel to connect them to their ancestors.
Davina knew it wouldn’t work, but she had time, so she —
Vincent Griffith walked into the room. He was a powerful elder warlock veteran who’d been murdered by his sociopathic wife, Eva Sinclair, every New Orleans witch/warlock-kid’s worst fear.
Vincent had told the girls they weren’t worthy of his guidance for failing to kill Hope Mikaelson to prevent a thousand years’ worth of Harvest Rituals, which Davina hadn’t known until after Monique, Abby and Cassie died and came back to life. She would never hurt Hope, sure she hated and would do anything to kill Klaus, but she wasn’t a monster. Anyway, three months ago, Vincent had awoken from his slumber, given rebirth by the Ancestors anew for all the good he’d done to replace the Shunned Geneviève. He’d told them they were on probation for “failing to execute the will of the Ancestors”, they couldn’t learn anymore from the Ancestors, all but Davina who’d not been present at the time of the New Harvest. Personally, Davina didn’t like Vincent, he had a snobby attitude and too be frank, he was shady, he hung around the cemetery way too much and seemed to talk with the Ancestors much longer than they would usually allow any witch.
She didn’t trust him and would be damned if she were in the other girls’ shoes, having him determining her use of magic.
Ooh, come at everyone with that attitude and you’ll be dead before you can utter the words, “I’m sorry I disrespected you”. (STUDIES THEIR RITUAL) Hmm, attempting to contact the Ancestors, are we? Tsk-tsk-tsk, hate to be the one to tell you this, but they won’t answer you until I tell them otherwise.
The original . . . (CONFUSED) What do you mean by Original Witch?
Davina knew the Original Witch as the very old, older than Klaus and Elijah, Esther, their mother who was now in the Ancestral Plane. It gave her chills remembering how she’d so easily taken control of Limbo while Davina was there, she was not a witch, she was something entirely different and powerful, centuries of life in different Veils and Planes of Existence had given such a tactic mind that her eyes seemed to analyse every possible outcome of her plans before you could even start to decipher her, and from her spells, Davina knew it was true, she’d seen her work, she saw it every day, they were the work of an artist, Davina would know, she was one.
Now, looking into Vincent’s eyes and listening to him say what he’d just said, she saw the same look in his eyes, but with less tact, more like smugness that he could not be beat rather than a method of perfection like Esther. But she’d seen this before, a shade of cruelty in his eyes that suggested he’d seen things that had failed to break him but had come close . . . this was not Vincent Griffith, he was possessed.
Of COURSE there would be more MIKAELSONS to disrupt Davina’s plans.
1.0.3. INT. THE COMPOUND — DINING PAVILION. AFTERNOON.Edit
Rebekah and her brothers sat by the patio next to each other, drinking tea and having what Elijah called, Andréa’s Peanut Butter Heavenly Chocolate Chip Cookies which she just MUST try. When she did, Rebekah had been grateful she was an ever-unchanging vampire who could eat to her desires without worrying about fat reserves because she couldn’t have enough.
Elijah and Klaus were explaining everything about their time in NOLA and Rebekah was actually glad to have this time with them.
Her decision to maybe give up on immortality had not yet come into play, but so far, she had found out that her brothers had been . . . well, her brothers. She was enchanted by the idea of Davina Claire, a witch who possessed the power to expel Elijah to Limbo and back, but dreaded her next question about the teenage goddess.
Yes, and had I known just how much trouble that would entail I wouldn’t have allowed the completion of that bloody Harvest. Actually, I killed the little pest and she came back to life at the mercy of your beloved Marcel. (HE DIDN’T WAIT FOR HER TO REACT AGAIN TO MARCEL’S NAME BEING MENTIONED) But Sophie Deveraux, God bless her wretched soul, came up with a fantastic plan to complete the Harvest. She would absorb the power of Céleste Marie Helene Dubois’s power for herself
Rebekah looked at Elijah, she was familiar with the process of Consecration, Céleste Dubois had been Elijah’s lover, a very lovely Cote D’Ivoire immigrant of the New Orleans witches who’d shown up just in time to fill Elijah’s heart. Rebekah suspected the witches back then had only allowed the witch to join them because of the powerful power she would come into in her studies. Céleste had been a marvel, beautiful and kind, and perfect for Elijah . . . aside for the fact that she’d been mortal . . .
Rebekah shoved the thought of immortality and mortality far away, this wasn’t the time for that.
How did you manage? (SHE RATHER SAID) I thought you said there were no Elders with which to complete the Harvest. (REBEKAH WAS ALSO FAMILIAR WITH THE HARVEST, ALTHOUGH IT HAD BEEN CALLED Fête du Moisson et Moissonner).
Well (ELIJAH SIPPED HIS TEA), I would never have agreed to this had the circumstances been different, but as you well know Rebekah, if the Harvest Ritual had not been completed, the city would be submerged in the full power of those limitless-potential-wielding girls.
Yes, she did know. The last time a coven had been led by Harvest Witches, they had managed to submerge NOLA in the oceans, which had devastated all the species.
Back then, the vampires (Rebekah, Klaus and Elijah) had used this as a chance to seize their full control over the city, the werewolves had been scattered and half-extinct, the witches were too, had suffered their own powers and were too busy rebuilding to have time fighting the Originals.
It hadn’t lasted.
Eventually, a powerful witch named Lily LeRoux had gotten her hands on a spellbook belonging to the witch Esther, the Originals’ mother and . . . well, things were never the same.
She was resurrected for the sake of the Harvest Witches, she could teach them whatever it is they needed know about magic. (DARKENS) She was the one Mother used to control them . . . when they tried to kill my daughter.
Elijah would agree, he thinks he can reach out to her and convince her otherwise. If she were alive, my solution would be to put her in the ground again, but she’s outsmarted us this time, she remains a spirit and cannot be harmed. It’s only a matter of time before she sends more of her tiresome witches after us, it doesn’t matter how many we kill because she will continue to imbue them with power. We barely saved Hope from three Harvest Witches. But . . . he and Hayley agree, we cannot do anything else, maybe her only daughter’s presence will sooth her anger. At least, that’s what I would assume they hope.
(TO ELIJAH): And just what makes you think Mother will yield to your word? Look, if Mother wishes to kill Hope it’s not because she hates Niklaus. I’m sure of that. She’s here for something else, something we don’t know.
(CONSIDERS/CLEARED HIS THROAT AWKWARDLY): Well, Niklaus was the one to end her life the first time, I believe her anger is to do with that, in her own twisted manner, she believes taking Hope’s life will be enough vengeance. (TO REBEKAH) But now you are here as well and the two of us can make her see that there’s but one hope, and that is to reunite, as a family: she can rule the Ancestors and the witches, while we rule the physical world, we can coexist and they – the werewolves and the witches – will yield if we present a united front —
You must be entirely demented, Elijah. Mother will not have any other way but her own. She has kept a grudge for a millennia, just like Mikael, and thanks to Niklaus’s inherited evil, his own daughter’s inherited all of his enemies. But . . . Mother would not be one of them. It’s been three months, right? If mother truly wanted to be the bane of Nik’s daughter then she would have attacked again.
If Mother doesn’t truly wish to kill Hope, then we will need to strategize, rethink how we call on her, find out why she went after her to begin. That is why I beseech you, sister, we must convince Mother to join us, to make peace. (TO KLAUS) Come to think of it, she won’t agree to anything you don’t plea as well, however acted it may be.
No, if you two want to go ahead and appease the hag, by all means, go. But I will not be made a fool with you. Not to mention the dangers of your little mission. ESTHER will only be accessible through the cemetery and that’s witch territory, need I remind you that Monique Deveraux nearly expelled you to limbo the last time we were there?
(BEFORE HE COULD ARGUE AGAIN): Niklaus, do you not realize that what we’re doing, what we’re risking, we’re doing to save your child. (SHE STOOD) I don’t understand you at times, Nik. I thought that maybe having a child may have given you SOME form of . . . I guess I don’t know what I expected. But it wasn’t this. What we’re doing, we’re doing because we love your child, inevitably because Elijah loves YOU. You don’t even have a solution yourself. Elijah’s plan may be dangerous but it’s a plan nonetheless. (SIGHS, GLARING AT KLAUS) Let’s go Elijah, we don’t have to be here. (STANDS) Let’s go save our niece.
The girl stood at the entrance, her hair curly and wild, her eyes full of a passion Rebekah didn’t understand, but her senses told her she was beyond the werewolf that Niklaus and Elijah had described. This was Hayley, the mother of Niklaus’s child, but she wasn’t a werewolf, she was a vampire.
Exactly, I’m a HY-BRID. That means I can’t be killed by stakes. My own daughter saved my life, that means I owe her mine. I will do anything to protect her. And what about Elijah and Rebekah? How is it that you can worry about me but neglect how much danger they’re in?
(TO REBEKAH): Three months ago, Klaus and Elijah left your mother’s grimoire and the White Oak unprotected. Both disappeared. Which means someone out there has the means to kill even an Original. (TO KLAUS) That means they’re inasmuch danger as I am.
Now THAT was a game changer. Rebekah thought about Matt. The last time Esther had returned . . . she had not been in hesitation to kill her family to undo her greatest sin: creating immortality. If Esther really DID have the Stake, she may never see Matt again.
Not to mention the Other Side was now out of reach, thanks to the cosmic powers of Bonnie Bennett and Elena Gilbert, meaning if she died, she would not be able to return, not by any familiar magic.
Let’s go (SHE DECIDED, IT WAS NECESSARY, HER NIECE, HER FAMILY, NEEDED HER, SHE ONLY NEEDED TO HAVE A LITTLE FAITH IN HER MOTHER’S HEART – SHE TURNED TO WALK PAST HAYLEY, NOT STOPING TO LOOK BACK AT HER SELFISH BROTHER AS YELLED).
1.0.4. INT. CAMILLE’S APARTMENT — THE BEDROOM. AFTERNOON.Edit
Camille sat on her bed, frantically studying one of the many diaries of her past ancestors who had been protectors of New Orleans. Aside from that, Camille had inherited an arsenal of dark objects – talisman that witches imbued with certain powers and abilities. Camille was learning the origins and ability of every one, but she had not even studied a quarter of them and she already knew what 15 dark objects could do.
Currently, she was reading Alejandra O’Connell’s chronicle or “journal”. It had terrifying information about the Originals in the 18th century. How she had fallen in love with and attempted to kill Elijah Mikaelson with a special powder she’d learned the witches called “vinaya”, now extinct, but back then, it had the power to control any person, kind of like compulsion.
Camille closed the book when she read the words: Dear Diary, I think I love Elijah Mikaelson. I mean, the way he treats me, the way he kisses me, the way he TOUCHES me and knows what to do when we —
It was too much, but it was all she could do to keep herself sane . . . either than visit her comatose brother in the hospital, sleep with Marcel, tell Davina it wasn’t her fault her brother was in the condition that he is, and have weird nightmares.
Not to mention that Klaus, Elijah and Hayley wouldn’t let her in to their compound and whenever she tried going, Marcel’s guys would be at the entrance, saying that no one outside the “House of M” could enter the house. It was ridiculous. But when she asked Marcel about it, he refused to say anything to her.
So Camille decided to distract herself with everything else.
She walked out of her apartment and entered her car. She was headed to the hospital to see Sean. It comforted her to be next to him, to read to him the latest news, the family history, the town’s vampires, her hurts, her wishes and angers because he was all Camille really had left, and she would hold on to him, and stay strong for him, till the end.
Secretly, Camille needed him to awaken so she could have someone to talk to about the dark objects she’d inherited . . . someone either than Davina. She’d talked to Davina about it a couple months ago, the witch had needed the objects to generate enough power to channel something called the “Threefold Enchantment” while channeling the birthday of Hope Mikaelson. One part of the spell had broken Agnes’s hex on Sean, the second part had protected the Harvest Girls that had tried to kill Hope and that was the only reason they were still alive. Davina had intended the last part to resurrect the love of her life, Tim Heisenberg, but she claimed the spell had failed. Cami admired her strength because though she’d failed, Davina seemed to be taking it very well.
Aside from supernatural business, she would officially become a therapist, acing her class at last. Cami was excited about it and her excitement excited her even more because she was glad that even after all she’d lived through, she was still capable of living the aspect of a normal, human life helping normal people with their normal problems.
Cami pulled up in the parking lot of the hospital and jumped out of her car. In that moment, she felt a chill in her bones, so dark and evil that she gasped. It was like the day she’d met the Originals, Elijah and Klaus. They’d carried an aura of strong magic, kinda like how when you stepped into the City of the Dead, you felt the strength of the Leigh Lines.
Are you losing faith, Andréa? You don’t mind if I call you Andréa, right luv?
Rebekah had studied these two, and there was a lot of sexual tension, which gave her a grossed-out feeling of disgust just thinking about it: Hayley bangs Nik and now Elijah’s got the hearts for her, that was wrong on many levels. Not to mention there was an innocent child involved.
Mother had seven children (HIS EYES STILL ON REBEKAH’S). Her first born died in Europe due to plague after Finn was born. Then the rest of us were born here, in America, what was then uncalled in English. We called Virginia home. I came first. Then Niklaus and Kol, Rebekah and Henrik. (HE SHARES A LOOK OF COMPASSIONATE REMEMBRANCE WITH REBEKAH) We were a real family then.
And then the lycanthrope killed our youngest brother Henrik. We buried him as a family. Mother stayed there alone . . . and then . . .
FLASHBACK: 11TH Century AD, Virginia, Mystic Falls
1.1.6. EXT. MYSTIC FALLS, VIRGINIA 11TH CENTURY AD — WOODS. NIGHT.Edit
Rebekah, Klaus, Kol, Finn and Elijah stand in the rain overseeing Mikael and Esther at a traditional Viking funeral.
Even on a day like this, Esther’s beauty was envied by her only daughter Rebekah.
Esther and Kol muttered protection charms over the body of Henrik. They’d started with their charms since before the ritual, it was supposedly meant to ensure safe passage to the Afterlife, as according to Kol and Esther.
Mikael had seemed softer on the day, in genuine pain. Rebekah and all his children, including Niklaus, had hugged him and Esther, comforting them of their pain.
Kendrik walked out of the woods. He was tall, with dark long hair and blue eyes. He was very handsome, more beautiful than any of Rebekah’s other brothers, and was followed by Lucious, a werewolf with almost the same lovely features.
And YOU. (MIKAEL SHOVES Lucious AWAY FROM HIM AND GLARES AT Kendrik) You are my SON! Henrik was your BROTHER, and you waltz this BEAST into our private rite? We are the only Vikings here, you are the only ones allowed to be here. You shame your brother’s memory by bringing something less than Viking – much less than a MAN – to this funeral.
Rebekah remembered the sheer look of hurt in Kendrik’s eyes before he turned and fled into the woods.
Lucious had bowed graciously and apologized one more time before meeting Rebekah’s eye, giving her a silent message: don’t worry about it, love. We’ll talk later.
The funeral had commenced.
Once the traditional Viking Rite of Death was complete and Henrik’s gory remains were ignited into flames by Esther’s magic, everyone couldn’t bear to watch, so they’d left.
Only Kol and Esther had remained behind, too heartbroken to leave even the ashes of Henrik’s body.
. . . and death, endless, overflowing death followed. Mother created an immortality spell based on Silas’s, just enhanced and also downgraded, and rendered us impervious to further harm by the lycanthropic anthropomorphs. Now our lives are endangered yet again.
So how DID you find out about the White Oak’s power to kill Originals? Did Esther just . . . ask Mother Nature?
Rebekah and Elijah glanced at each other. That was a sad, sad story that the Mikaelsons had buried long ago and it would stay buried forever. Before Elijah could evade Hayley, a new voice came into being.
That’s because you’ve been out of town for the past two months, genius. He’s called a meeting today, actually. The werewolves run the Quarter and Marcel wants to have a meeting with us about where we stand in the faction, what’s our next move, you know, that kind of stuff.
(JOSH STOPS DRINKING): I see them all the time at school. She’s . . . great. After all she’s been through, I’m surprised to see her happy at all. She spends her spare time studying magic and . . . talking to her ancestors, I guess. Looking for a way to resurrect her dead boyfriend Tim. But she’s great. Just the other day she almost brought a bird back from the dead.
(SIGHS): Like I said, I realized I was wrong, the way I treated you before, like you were beneath me? I’m sorry about that. I want to be a part of your life and your life entails Davina, so . . . (SHRUGS)
I’m a Guerrera, Oliver. Descended from one of the Twelve Original Werewolf Packs. I possess more strength than any of you and I came the closest to breaking the Werewolf Curse than any other witch or werewolf in the past millennia. Trust me, our species has been oppressed far too long. The Guerreras have been planning with the other Alpha Packs for centuries, carrying down our plans from parent to child. I will not disappoint our ancestors. Go. Tell all the Crescent Werewolves that every vampire in NOLA dies tonight and that any wolf who doesn’t join us must leave or be destroyed with them. (HER EYES GLOW) I haven’t any room for vamp-sympathizers.
Oliver turns around and walks out of the room. Francesca turns around and suddenly, the Red Queen stands there.
Okay, but I’m not in the position to be disappointing my people. (SIPS HER WHISKEY) The other pack families are coming to New Orleans, and after Lucious comes the ultimate plan. (LOOKS AT THE RED QUEEN) Not even you can do that.
Sean? It’s been three months since you were healed of that hex of yours. I know you’re much better off as you are . . . or it’s what I tell myself to make myself feel better about being responsible for letting Davina put you here. You know, if you never wake up, I’ll be the last member of our family. After Mom kicks the bucket. I’ll be alone forever. The last O’Connell. Somehow, I think I should feel better about it, being a survivor in a world where witches hex you to distract your priest uncle from stopping them from sacrificing four innocent girls. (VOICE BREAKS) Not to mention, people I care about may be killed anytime. I think out of all the people in my life, you’re the one I need to lean on instead of protect or avoid or be guilty for loving like Davina, Marcel or . . . or K-Klaus. I need you. I know I don’t believe in God, but for your sake . . . God? My parents taught me to pray when I was a child. Figures . . . I can’t remember any of it when I need to. (PRAYING) Thing is, I haven’t had a reason to believe in a higher power for a long time. And if Sean’s not going to make it, please – please – make sure there’s a place for him in Heaven. And if You’re there, I hope this is not too much to ask, but please, he’s been devoted to You for so long, save him, show me You’re really there. Show me a sign. (TEARS UP AND BURIES HER HEAD IN HIS CHEST) Please…
The air rippled, and Sean’s fingers tightened around Camille’s hand.
I’m here to make sure my brothers Klaus and Elijah pay for--(GASPS AND HIS EYES TURN FULL WHITE)--Nous avons détecté la présence d'un nouveau vampire d'origine dans la ville, une fille féminine de Mikael a rejoint ceux qui sont comme Dieu et sera un problème si elle reste un vampire--(CRIES OUT AS HE GLOWS IN A SWIRL OF SPIRITUAL POWER AND BLOOD POURS FROM HIS NOSE)-- Aah!
1.1.2. INT. THE COMPOUND — HOPE MIKAELSON’S BEDROOM. NIGHT.Edit
Klaus watches over a sleeping Hope and sighs as he remembers his earlier conversation with his siblings.
That means they’re inasmuch danger as I am, Hayley had said vigorously, and she had been right. He was, but he had better plans than to grovel at Esther’s non-existent feet.
He remembered the day they’d found out White Oak could kill them, that had come as an unpleasant surprise.
FLASHBACK: 11TH Century AD, Virginia, Mystic Falls:
1.1.3. EXT. MYSTIC FALLS, VIRGINIA 11TH CENTURY AD — WOODS. NIGHT.Edit
It was a week after their turning, Klaus had been turned into an Original Vampire. He was indulging in a drink of blood, enjoying the death of his victim a little too much. The fangs of vampires were among the most sensitive parts of a vampire. When drinking from a victim, the feel of them entering the flesh was a feeling better than sex and the frenzy and sensual pleasures that followed hidden within human blood was indescribably, intimately, deliciously orgasmic, and a willing victim felt the pleasures a bite from a vampire could give.
(DRINKING FROM A SEMI-CONSCIOUS GIRL, HE PULLS OUT, HORRIFIED THAT SHE IS NEARLY DEAD, BUT HE CANNOT LEAVE SO HE CONTINUES): Ohh, I am sorry for this!
Kendrik walked out of the woods. He was tall, with dark long hair and blue eyes. He was very handsome, more beautiful than any of Klaus’s other brothers. He glared at the scene and pulled Klaus from his victim.
Get off me. (SHOVES HIS HANDS OFF) Your lovely Rebekah came back, she says she found out about my child. Now she, Hayley and Elijah are on a fools’ errand to attempt – by some stupid thought – to appease Esther in the City of their bloody Dead.
(CHUCKLES): Oh, Marcel. Heh-heh. I’m shocked at how little faith you have in my ability to strategize. The witches do not have the White Oak. I’ve looked at it from every angle. If Mother had the stake, she damn well would have used it by now, her “devotion to Nature” would demand it. Trust me, I’d be a pile of ash. For the past three months, the werewolves have been gathering my power. Every full moon, the witches have been absorbing my power as a hybrid, the 12 moonlight rings have been accumulating strength, power they have not used. According to Diego, the werewolves are back in town, which means they plan on using the Stake tonight. Which is why, my dear Marcel, I would let Rebekah and Elijah and the mother of my one and only child attempt to beg our mother to spare her, because Elijah will not let Hayley die and he and Rebekah, will be safe from the werewolves who come to kill me tonight.
1.1.5. EXT. THE CTIY OF THE DEAD — CEMETERY. NIGHT.Edit
Rebekah, Hayley, Elijah and Geneviève walked to the cemetery, but right before Rebekah and Hayley could enter, they are hit by a veil like a boundary of the magic nature, like when you’re not invited into an area.
(REALIZES): This is consecrated grounds. You haven’t been invited in since the day you made yourself an official hybrid. (THINKS) The Ancestors may hate me for this . . . if I were still connected them. I invite you in.
Leigh lines are mystical cracks in the earth that emit magical energy into the spiritual world. It attracts magical creatures, ensures the magical flow continues. They’re primal, but they can form anywhere depending on how much magic has been used there.
Like here, in the Nécropolis. The witches have been buried here since the times of the Aztecs, years of magic practice are drafted and recorded into the earth, the drafts are turned into leigh lines, cracks in the spirit of Mother Nature that draw even more magic and strengthen over time and connect witches all over the world. Witches can store their magic in them, the Ancestors have done so here. Or they can send messages to each other or even draw on raw leigh lines for power. Think of it as kind of the Internet of supernatural beings, the veins of Magic’s very existence.
Rebekah knew the leigh lines all too well, it was partly why she had the Cure and partly why Silas was still alive.
They walked past many tombstones and eventually reached a pathway leading to an altar. Rebekah studied Hayley as they approached it. She looked very uncomfortable about it.
Be quiet, Geneviève. Do not misunderstand, I sought you out to give you a chance to make amends for your treachery. You were only allowed to live for Niklaus’s demented affections in you. But make no mistake, you will never be forgiven for what you would have done to the House of M’s Renaissance.
(CLEARED HER THROAT, THE OLD REBEKAH WOULD’VE KILLED HER FOR THAT THREAT, BUT MATT HAD CHANGED HER, SHE WAS NOT THAT PERSON ANYMORE, MAYBE BEING HERE WAS A WAY FOR HER TO SHOW HERSELF AND HER BROTHERS THAT SHE COULD BE HUMAN EVEN WHEN SHE DIDN’T HAVE TO BE, SO SHE LOOKED AWAY AND THE WITCH DID KNOW THINGS ABOUT HER THAT SHE WOULD RATHER KEEP BURIED): Sorry, Geneviève. (WALKING) This cemetery hasn’t changed a bit since I last saw it.
(UNDER HER BREATH): Of course. (REBEKAH DID NOT TRUST GENEVIÈVE, LEAST OF ALL WITH HER BLOOD, BUT SHE HAD NO CHOICE, SHE OUTSTRETCHED HER HAND FOR GENEVIÈVE CUT AND WATCHED AS GENEVIÈVE CUT HER PALM QUITE DEEPLY AND LET THE BLOOD DRIP INTO A TINY FLASK AND THEN PULLED OFF A LOCK OF HER OWN HAIR AND GAVE IT TO THE WITCH).
(SIGHS): The magic I’m using bridges you three to me so you can all have the power to communicate with the spiritual world. You’ll all have to have my blood in your systems when that happens so the Ancestors can speak to you through me. I’ve been Shunned so I can’t directly communicate with them anymore. Traditionally, they shouldn’t even acknowledge my existence, but the Shunning magic takes about four months to be completely active, so I’m hoping the magic holds.
(DIPS FINGERS IN THE BOWL)/(CHANTING): Réveiller ancêtres, entendre mes appeler. Nous implorer vous ce soir à écouter nous. (DRAWS SYMBOLS OF MAGIC ON HER SKIN WITH THE MIXTURE) Esther Mikaelson, écouter! Écouter à nous implorer! (GROANS AS HER EYES BEGIN TO SHIFT IN COLOR, TURNING A DARK BLACK) AH! Something’s wrong! (BLOOD POURS FROM HER EYES AND THEN SHE GLOWS IN A BLUR OF MAGIC AND FALLS FORWARD ONLY FOR ELIJAH TO CATCH HER).
Rebekah sensed the presence of something new, powerful and . . . old. Geneviève smiled at her as voices hissed in the air, turning into whispers and voices chanting in hushes she could not clearly comprehend.
(TO REBEKAH AND ELIJAH): Why, don’t you recognize me?(CHANTING) Enchantare: Révélation dès esprit.(FINN MIKAELSON’S APPARITION GLOWS TO LIFE IN FRONT OF HIM, REVEALING HIS TRUE SELF IN ASTRAL/SPIRIT FORM FOR A SECOND AND THEN DISAPPEARS).
So Mother has employed her most apple-polishing, vampireson to run her little errands in the body of some unsuspecting human? (SMIRKS) How adorably pathetic. Is your own body not immortal enough to meet her needs? At least she does not have the characteristic of a double standard.
Elijah! (LUNGES FORWARD, BUT THE FOUR WITCHES STANDING BEHIND FINN OUTSTRETCHED THEIR HANDS IN REBEKAH’S DIRECTION AND SHE FELT HER SPINAL CORD’S VERTEBRAE SEPARATE. THE POWER WAS SO STRONG AND YET SO EFFORTLESSLY EFFECTIVE THAT REBEKAH REALZIED IN AGONY THAT THESE WERE THE HARVEST WITCHES AND SANK TO THE GROUND) Ah!
(REBEKAH COULD FEEL THE NEW PRESENCE OF ESTHER IN THE CHILD): Mother?
1.1.6. EXT. THE STREETS OF NEW ORLEANS. NIGHT.Edit
Tina walks alone in the streets seemingly headed to the compound when she sees a man looking at her from across the street. His eyes are glowing golden and she rushes into the compound, realizing he is a werewolf.
Vampires, this Quarter has belonged to you for the past century and yet the werewolves’ presence is strong enough to make you tremble in your own city for the past three months! I say NO MORE! Some of you are over a century old, some are but tweens, I am older than all you and yet we all share something in common: we all love New Orleans and we share the same blood. You see, when my mother created Immortality, she realized we would be alone our entire lives. So she gave us the ability to create others like ourselves, sirelings of our choosing who would be companions and possess the same immortality. And if we so chose, we could take it back for each non-Original vampire dies by any wood. All of you were turned by Marcellus and are therefore part of my bloodline. I BUILT New Orleans! I molded it’s foundations with my siblings. Sadly, for all of you, Mother’s spell also bound the lives of every member of our bloodlines to us, therefore if I were to (GRINS) die tonight, a domino-effect of magic would be produced, dragging all my sirelings into death with me.
An outcry of worry rippled across the vampires that stood everywhere in the room. Some were unsure of this, others thought Klaus was lying. Looking up, Tina could see that Klaus was smirking at them, unworried and wondered why he was telling them this.
Quiet! (SMILING) Now, some time ago my brothers, the Original Vampires Kol and Finn, were killed. Yes, we Originals can be killed. When they died, as you know, entire lines of vampires from their bloodlines died with them, extincting their sirelines. As you know, the conventional wood cannot kill us, but there is a wood that can: the White Oak. (RAISES A FINGER) It is extinct, save for one Stake which my mother Esther made immortal with her matchless magic. That stake has fallen into enemy lines. Marcel and I believe it to be in werewolf hands, and the moon is rising: tonight is a full moon and they plan to attack us. Their leaders possess the Moonlight Rings which drain me of all my powers when the moon reaches its apex. If Francesca does indeed have the Stake, she can kill even me with it and when I fall, you will all fall with me.
Oh my God, Tina thought anxiously. Warm fingers intertwined with hers: Josh was standing next her, he gave her a look that suggested he was just as frightened as her.
(WALKS UP NEXT TO KLAUS): Klaus’s right. Y’all know I wouldn’t lie to you. I’m not compelled either. But right now you’re our best bet. You’re immortal and you’re strong. Tonight we have to protect Klaus to save ourselves. Fight like you’ve got nothing to lose because if you DO lose, you lose it all. You lose your home, and your LIVES! Fight to live, fight for forever! And when it’s all over, Klaus’s promised to heal any vampire that the werewolves bite. If you’re not up for it, by all means, walk out that door. But if you trust me, do as I ask and fight for the House of M!
Tina inhaled deeply, knowing she had already accepted and watched as all the vampires took a step forward with her, accepting to fight for their home just as the moonlight shone at near apex.
Klaus grinned closed his eyes. Tina could feel the Original’s ancient powers flooding the room as an image drilled itself into her mind: a silver-bound, beautiful White Oak stake – the White Oak Stake, Klaus was showing it to all the vampires with a message: if you see it, bring it to me. And then a private message for Tina alone: come to Hope’s room.
Once all other vampires had gone to take their positions, expecting the werewolves, Tina headed off to the room Klaus had instructed her to go to and found Josh, Marcel and Klaus standing in it.
(NODDED, SHE LOOKED AT KLAUS. HE WAS AS STRIKINGLY BEAUTIFUL AS EVER, TINA HAD SEX DREAMS ABOUT KLAUS FREQUENTLY AND THEY WERE ARGUMENTED BY HER VAMPIRISM. SHE KEPT THEM SECRET FROM EVERYONE INCLUDING JOSH AND DAVINA BECAUSE SHE KNEW HOW THEY WOULD REACT. TINA HERSELF WAS APPALED BY HER LUST FOR THE HANDSOME DEVIL).
(ZOOMS FROM HIS SIDE OF THE ROOM. HE PLACED HIS HANDS ON HER CHEEKS, HIS TOUCH MAKING HER BLUSH AND HE LOOKED DIRECTLY INTO HER EYES, COMPLUSORY MAGIC POURING OUR OF HIS VOICE)/(COMPELLING): You will protect my daughter, you care deeply for her and will guard her and will do anything to keep her protected tonight from anything that may be a harm to her. You as devoted as though you were her own mother.
(HYPNOTIZED, EVERY MUSCLE IN HER BODY YIELDED TO THE POWERFULLY SEDUCTIVE VOICE OF KLAUS AND WOULD DO ANYTHING HE WANTED. SUDDENLY, SHE FELT ATTACHED TO THE BABY IN THE PRAM, AS THOUGH SHE’D KNOWN HER FROM BIRTH. SHE REALIZED JUST HOW PRECIOUS AND BEAUTIFUL THE PRINCESS OF NEW ORLEANS WAS AND WANTED TO HER, PROTECT HER AND KEEP HER FROM ALL HARM THAT ANYONE WOULD TRY TO BRING AGAINST HER. AND SHE WOULD)/(COMPELLED): I’ll protect her with my life.
(TO TINA AND JOSH): Sorry 'bout that, Klaus wouldn’t trust you otherwise. (SIGHS) Now that the two of you are compelled, you’ll protect her. Take the baby to the Mikaelson Plantation and keep her there until you hear from us.
(CROSSES ARMS, LOOKING SYMPATHETIC): I’m your friend, Jack. I don’t like seein' ya like dis. I wanna help you. (PULLS OUT A MOONLIGHT RING) Francesca had this one made specially for you. If you join the Guerrera Pack, you’ll be as strong as she is, you’ll be a true Lycan.
If the Guerreras and the Crescents merged in one pack we’d be unstoppable, Jack. Many Crescents have already joined and under Francesca we’ll be able to break the curse for ALL werewolves. We’ll all be like the Lycans, like the Original Lycans, ring or no ring.
(SMILES): We’re runnin’ the vamps outta town t’night – with the Mikaelsons. The ones of us who possess rings are even stronger than the turned ones who don’t. See this (HOLDS UP THE RING) this will turn you into something you can’t begin to imagine. My senses are unlike anythin’ I’ve ever felt or known. You can know everything we do too. (RAISES THE RING) Just take it.
1.1.9. EXT. THE CTIY OF THE DEAD — CEMETERY. NIGHT.Edit
Rebekah was suddenly overloaded with emotion. She could feel her mother’s presence, even inhabiting the teenager it was so powerfully enticing that she wished she could rush into her arms and bury her head in her chest. Her mother was in her reach . . . but that was not why they were here. Esther had attempted to kill Hope and had resurrected Finn – why?
My dear boy. (EFFORTLESSLY TELEKINETICALLY MAKES HIM LOOK UP AT HER) You still do not understand. I’m not here to kill you. I couldn’t kill you if I wanted to. I’m here to save you, I’m here to save all of you.
Hmm. (GLANCES AT REBEKAH). When my sons consecrated me, I spent months gathering power to unleash, to overwhelm the spirits who gave Céleste her visions of destruction and finally I did: Hope will be the death of all witches. But you see, Hope is an agent of Nature. Just like Niklaus, I see her as this family’s salvation and miracle, a daughter of the House of Ansuz and M. She is human. Her magic is untapped, and her lycanthrope gene is dormant. Her vampirism will only be complete when she is eighteen. An oxymoron of nigh infinite power.
As I said, I see the child as I did Niklaus when he was but a child in my womb. She will be our salvation. But I must take her from Niklaus to do so, a place where he would never be able to reach her – the spiritual plane, a realm far from his reach, she’d be protected from his corruption. I would raise her, teach her and then —
(INTERRUPTING): Then what?! Make her watch the world and govern over the Spiritual Planes as you do? Turn her into a cruel, Ancestral Elder? You are as despicable as you are cowardice. You hide behind the Veil of the Ancestors and send those who can be killed to attempt to do your bidding or suffer death by your own hand. You judge Nik, and yet you are nothing short! If you kill Elijah, you’ll have to kill me, too! We know you have the White Oak, so get it over with! (AND THEN SHE REGRETTED IT INSTANTLY, IF SHE DIED TODAY, MATT MIGHT NEVER LOVE AGAIN, AND SHE WOULD NEVER FORGIVE HERSELF)
(FROWNING): The White Oak? (LOOKS DOWN AT ELIJAH) I will not kill Elijah, but I will give him a gift – rebirth. (KNEELS AND PULLS ELIJAH’S HEAD TO HER LIPS TO KISS HIS FOREHEAD AND AS SHE DOES SO, HE BEGINS TO GLOW)
Ahh! (REBEKAH BEGUN TO FEEL THE BURN OF THEIR GIRLS’ MAGIC, BURNING SO POWERFULLY WITHIN HER THAT SHE FELT PARALYZED TO DO ANYTHING. SHE ATTEMPTED TO PULL INTO HER OWN POWERS AND TRIED TO CALL ON A BOLT OF LIGHTNING, BUT IT WAS LIKE THE CEMETERY WAS RENDERING HER POWERS NULL). Stop!!! (REBEKAH REALIZED THIS WOULD BE THE END, ESTHER WOULD DESTROY HER BODY AND SHE WOULD NEVER LIVE AGAIN). (WHISPERS): M-m-a-Matt, i-I lo-vve youA-AAHHHH!!!!!!! (SHE COULD FEEL HERSELF BEGINNING TO DESICCATE, HER VEINS DRYING UP) Ahh!
(GETS UP AND ZOOMS TO ESTHER/MONIQUE, PUSHING HER AWAY FROM ELIJAH): So you’re here to save your family – just without Hope, right? Because of some new age devotion to Nature? (GRABS HER NECK) Go back to Hell, Esther. (GLARES BACK AT GENEVIÈVE) Now! (SNAPS MONIQUE’S NECK).
(RISES/CHANTING): Puissance de la lune, de moi-même, des la Claires, O échouer m’ ne pas, O remuer à faire marcher dans faveur! Tourner leur magie contre eux! (DAVINA’S WRIST TURNS AND A CIRCLE OF FIRE APPEARS AROUND HER. ABIGAIL’S KNEE BREAKS AND A GUST OF POWERFUL WINDS LIFTS HER UP AND THROWS HER INTO A TOMB STONE. CASSIE STARTS TO THROW UP WATER, FREEING REBEKAH AND ELIJAH). (TO REBEKAH, ELIJAH AND ANDRÉA) Go! I can’t hold the spell! (BEGINS BLEEDING FROM THE EYES) The Ancestors are coming! Go!
(REBEKAH FELT THE MOISTURE RETURN TO HER BODY AND SAW ELIJAH BEING RELIEVED AS WELL, SHE THEN ZOOMED FOR THE EXIT OF THE CEMETERY AND COULD HEAR ELIJAH TRAILING CLOSELY BEHIND HER AS THEY EJECT THE CEMETERY. HAYLEY PULLS GENEVIÈVE AND FLIES WITH HER).
(RUSHED OUT TO THE COURTYARD): Alright, the moon’s at zenith! Prepare! They’ll be here any minute now. If a wolf attacks you, anticipate the move, jump over it, sit on its back and crush its ribcage. That’ll keep it down long enough, but don’t hesitate, hesitate and they’ll rip your head off –
(LOOKS BACK AT THE SLEEPING BABY IN THE BACKSEAT): How do you think the whole hybrid or – the “tribrid-thing” – works? You know, Hope’s not like Klaus or Hayley. She’s a vampire, she’s a werewolf, but she’s also a witch. Does this mean she’s gonna be a baby forever? It would SUCK if she’s a baby forever.
No I don’t think too much. I mean THINK about it. Werewitchpyre in the house. If she’s a vampire too, then what MAKES her a vampire? Does she just have an endless supply of the stuff in her blood, and if so, if she ages until 18 and I kill her – which I can NEVER do now – would that turn her into vampire? And if it does turn her, does she still get to be a witch-werewolf?
(EYES THE SLEEPING BABY): Sorry — so he was born from a werewolf and witch bloodline. Esther and whoever her lover was. Klaus was born a hybrid – a werewitch, or in his case, a werelock. Then they were turned into vampires, and when he had his first kill — BAM! — his werewolf curse turned him into a vampire-werewolf.
(SIGHS): My point is this: If Klaus was able to break his curse and stay a werewolf, how about his warlock-ness? If he can be a werewolf and a vampire in the same breath – especially since he’s a pureblood werewitch to begin – then why can’t he be a warlock too?
(INTERRUPTS): A thousand years he carried a Curse his mother put on him to keep him one thing, what if everyone’s looking at this in a limited way? What if Esther always feared not just him being a hybrid, but a tribrid, like his daughter? He’s only managed to break the curse in the 21st century thinking he’d be just a werewolf-vampire hybrid, that’s why he doesn’t even realize . . . you’re looking pale, Tina, you okay?
It was war, bodies lay limply across the cauldron, casualties equal on both sides – for now. The werewolves were growing stronger, and were killing and learning more than they were dying while the vampires were running out of heads.
Marcel shoved a werewolf off a young vampire girl and broke the beast’s ribcage, throwing it into another. He saw Oliver rip out a vampire’s out and throw it away and bite three others in the same breath. Oliver was a Lycan . . . there was no other explanation.
He pulled Oliver off one of his guys and thrust his head into a wall, but that didn’t last, Oliver pulled his head out like it was made out of steel and bared his four, canine fangs, sharp and long and his nails elongated into sharp claws and his muscle and bone mass stretched. Oliver was suddenly taller than Marcel and venomously strong. He lunged at Marcel, his teeth nearly catching him, but Marcel repelled his attack and caught his wrists before he could tear out his throat with his new claws. Oliver was starting to look like whatever would be between a human and a wolf, hairy and monstrous. Marcel punched him across the face and caught his backlashing fist but made the mistake of not ripping his heart out then and there: Oliver shoved his hand into Marcel’s chest.
Marcel and Oliver had fought head-to-head. Marcel was a powerful vampire, he’d lived for three hundred years and yet, Oliver’s power was as strong as Klaus.
I’d ask how you were, but you’re obviously alive. (SHE TURNED TO PULL A WOLF OFF OF DIEGO AND TEAR HIS HEAD OFF, ELIJAH AND HAYLEY WORKING IN SYNC WITH HER ALONG WITH HAYLEY, SUDDENLY, THE BATTLE SEEMED HOPEFUL).
(STANDS AT THE TOP OF THE BUILDING): Fair warning! (THE FOUR MOONLIGHT RING HOLDERS STOPPED FIGHTING AND COMMANDED THEIR WOLVES TO STOP AS WELL) I am an Original Vampire. So is my sister Rebekah (POINTS TO HER) I think you know there is no shortage of power. You expected one functional Original, you got two. Now, I suggest you all leave or my sister and I will be forced to summon a lightning storm. (GRINS) How delightfully poetic: “death by lightning storm”. I must say, I like the sound of that. Now, I’ll count to three. Un.
(SHE CLOSED HER EYES, CONCENTRATING HER POWER. THEN IN THE NEXT MOMENT THE SKY WAS DARK WITH CLOUDS AND A BOLT OF LIGHTNING ZAPPED A GUY WEARING A MOONLIGHT RING. HE CRIED OUT AND WAS CAUGHT BY ONE OF THE OTHERS. SHE’D SENT A LOW-PULSED BOLT, JUST ENOUGH TO PUT HIM OUT COLD AND RENDER THEM FEAR HER).
There’s no time, I’m sorry, but we must first heal all your people and ensure the werewolves have all gone first. We have an entire month before we need worry about a werewolf attack again. Come Niklaus.
(TO MARCEL): You heard him. (LEAVES).
1.2.3. EXT. THE CTIY OF THE DEAD — CEMETERY. NIGHT.Edit
Davina and the other Harvest Girls had gathered around Monique. Davina was furious. Geneviève had turned their own elements against them. And they’d killed Monique. Luckily, they’d thought to cast protective spells on themselves after Vincent had decided to me them the “welcoming committee”. Monique was lucky to be alive, if not for Davina’s forethought — again — Hayley would’ve killed her. In the last couple of months Hayley had murdered her fair share of witches and Davina hadn’t cared at all because she didn’t fancy child sacrifice, she knew better. Monique, Abby and Cassie had kept a low profile for their part in Hayley’s baby’s Harvest, ensuring they were hidden from the Queen’s wrath. But she and Elijah and the new sister the Ancestors had warned them of had gone too far today, and Davina would have their heads, she didn’t care what the Ancestors did or didn’t do, she wanted blood and so she would take the other girls with her back to the church and they would learn every spell in Esther’s book and would use every spell against that wretched family.
As it turns the wolves might not have the White Oak Stake. If they did, they would’ve used it against me tonight, I was utterly . . . (SIGHS) powerless. If you hadn’t arrived with Elijah . . . I might be a prisoner of their bloody queen. (HOPEFUL) How did it go at the cemetery?
