At the beginning of the series, Hayley was put under the protection of The Original Family, having to deal with her being pregnant with Klaus' baby. She later gave birth to a daughter towards the ending of the war against Neoma. Before Hayley wanted nothing to do with the baby and wanted to get an abortion so that she could get away from Klaus and spare the baby of having him for a father. But as time went by, she became attached to the baby and would hope to raise her, giving her a good life. However, she learned of a secret that Thomas and Elijah had been keeping from her concerning her baby. After giving birth, she went to Sophia for advice. Hayley then decided along with Klaus to give up their daughter in order to keep her safe from their enemies. They chose to leave her in Rebekah's care whom was leaving New Orleans for good.
Months later, Hayley struggles with the grief of having to give up her daughter. When it is revealed that Esther has been brought back to life, Hayley fears that she will find about Hope. Danielle also questioned Hayley about the secret that she's hiding about Hope and Danielle swears that she will find out what it is.
